The Conversation has arrived on the Australian media scene, bringing with it experts from all disciplines to write about news as it should be covered. Unlike most media outlets, The Conversation uses writers with expertise in the subject area of the topics they’re writing on. This is not hack writing. Not filler pieces. It is not a mouthpiece for big business interests. It is a news and analysis service in the best sense of the term.
One of the most popular sections on their website, Explainer, provides short and to the point pieces on a wide variety of specific subjects that frequently get short shrift elsewhere. So at the time of writing this post, the subjects ‘above the fold’ on the site include: the ethics of ritual slaughter; why is the Hendra virus so dangerous; the chikungunya virus and its risk to Australia; and what is cute aggression?
So it is with great pleasure that Embiggen Books hosts the launch of the book, The Explainer.
